George Grey (richardg@pearcerg.freeserve.co.uk)
Swindon, U.K.
I only heard about this web site
from another Ex-Rhodie a few days ago. I was at Falcon College between
1965 - 1969. Sarie used to beat me often at least once a week, usually
for smoking! My only real claim to being remembered is that I picked up
a nickname of Pinkie (or Pink Rat) and could throw a pole (javelin) quite
a long way. I am married with two children and have recently moved from
South Africa to Swindon in the U.K.
Iain Dunn: (77-81):George Grey (iain_dunn@hotmail.com)
I'm one of the multitude on these
pages beaten by Sarie for smoking (or was it for being caught smoking?).
Currently working as a technical architect for CMG (a Netherlands/UK based
IT consultancy) and living in Sevenoaks, Kent. Had a bit of a mispent youth
after graduating from University of Natal. I drifted in and out of the
S.A Defence Force as an IO in Messina in the bad old days, and on the Natal
South Coast during the transition to the "New" SA. Had a few grown-up jobs
using my degree as an agricultural economist, but found I despised it.
I went the backpacking/geriatric hippy route, working on building sites
and doing the medical test guinae-pig thing to get through the recession
before settling on computing. I'm in fairly regular contact with Gerry
du Plessis (Tredgold 82) who sports a serious ZZ top beard and is now one
of SA's top skydiving instructors, and have crossed paths with the following
FOBs of my vintage in the UK over the past few years: 'Spook' Hoking (Oates
81):- Project manager for Trafalger House Construction, UK. Brent Hyde-Smith
(Hervey 81):- Environmental engineering(?) Canary Wharf. Graham Smith (Tredgold
82):- Vet somewhere down Devon way. Mark Tenouth (Tredgold 86(?)):- Oracle
consultancy, UK and Europe.
Margi Simmons(nee Goodburn) 1978
- 1983. (K.A.Simmons@tesco.net)
or (Margi.Simmons@fluordaniel.com)
Surrey,U.K.
One of the few 'Old Girls'. Now
married living in Surrey in the U.K. Working as a Principal Accountant
for construction and engineering firm Fluor Daniel. Dad (Tony Goodburn
- Noddy or Al Capone) who taught French, Latin and a couple of other subjects
when we first arrived at Falcon in 1975 is semi-retired and living in Hampshire.
He is now running Twyford Prep School library and enjoying it tremendously.
He can be contacted through me.

Army went to Sandhurst and joined the Royal Corps of Transport (now Royal
Logistic Corps). Leaving after eight years, having completed my Short Service
Commission, as a Captain and Sqn Comd. Closest I have got to going home
since leaving in 85 was a 3 month op tour in Angola with the UN which was
interesting!! Hope to work in logistics or security in the UK or Africa
so I may visit Zims yet.

I just stumbled on this Falcon
home page as I was doing some research for my son's school. It's fantastic
to have a way to contact our old school friends. I, with my wife Laura-Sue
and son Ian, live in Austin, Texas, USA . I've been in the US since I left
Falcon in 1972, University in Idaho and have worked for IBM for over 20
years now. Unfortunately my only contact with an FOB was Ian Fleming (73
Hervey) while he attended University in Vancouver Canada, he has moved
to Australia and we lost touch. I would like to hear from those who attended
in the same time frame especially those from Hervey. If anyone knows the
where abouts of Miles Divett (72 Hervey), Brian Evison(72 Hervey),Tim Soulier(72
Tredgold), Rob Stringfellow(72 Hervey) Ian Fleming(73 Hervey), I could
go on for ever please let me know. Any FOB's in South West USA want to
start a local group lets see if we can get a critical mass together (Brian
Darling I see your down in Houston). For those of us who have been out
of touch with Falcon for the last 20 years this site is a very pleasant
surprise. In addition to e-mail I can be contacted at the following: IBM

Belfast, Northern Ireland
I left Falcon at the end of 91
and joined the British Army. I spent a year as a Rifleman when James
Chance (85) was an instructor at the Light Division Depot and Bruce
Henderson was a Coy 2IC with the 2nd Bn The Royal Green Jackets in
Omagh, Northern Ireland. I spent 6 months with the 2nd Bn Royal Green Jackets
in Omagh before attending the Royal Military Acadeny Sandhurst, where Capt
Dan Culley was an instructor. I was commissioned in 94 and
returned to the 1st Bn The Royal Green Jackets in Dhekelia, Cyprus. Since
then I have been to the Falkland Islands, Jordan, Brazil, France, Bosnia,
Canada, Kenya and two tours in Northern Ireland. I was a Platoon
Commander for 3 years before commanding the Mortar Platoon, and recently
I have taken command of the Close Observation Platoon in Belfast, Northern
Ireland. Lt Ian Hastings (93) is also a Platoon Commander
in the 1st Bn and is currently instructing recruits at the ArmyTraining
Regiment, Winchester. I am trying to get in touch with anyOld Boy
in the UK, or anyone with any knowledge of the following: James Chance,
Bruce Henderson, Dan Culley, Oskar Komen, Robbie Kuipers, Paul Wigham,
Kai Boye, Grant Stewart, Munga Ushewokunze, Martin Kaulback, Paul Milligan,
Tim Leher or James Halsted.
Gordon Macrae (68-71) (gordon.macrae1@virgin.net)
Delighted to find the site. All
these years I have regaled my children with tales of Sarie Marais, and
they now have proof that he existed. Met Kevin Ross who was running Cornwalls
last tin mine when I was MD of a ladder manufacturing business. Now involved
establishing a number of joint ventures in the South West of England. Would
be delighted to make contact with any old boys in the Uk.

Bryan Gallow (60-66): Founders
(boyergallow@prodigy.net)
The Woodlands, Texas, USA
I stumbled across the FOBS's website
purely by chance. My E-mail is in my wife's name (Anthea Boyer);
I am Bryan Gallow, 1960-1966, Founders House. I am currently living
in The Woodlands, Texas, USA, which is a community 35 miles north of Houston.
I have lost touch with Falcon and I am keen to re-establish links with
FOBS and any Old Boys and staff who might have been at Falcon in the early
to mid-sixties or otherwise.
Since leaving Falcon in 1966 my path has crossed with just one OB: Roderick Pye, who is a mining engineer with Barrick Gold Corp. in Toronto, Canada. I have bumped into a number of Rhodesians over the years from the likes of Gifford Tech., Plumtree, Milton and Peterhouse, but only one from Falcon unfortunately.
For the past 20 years I have been with the Bank of Montreal, a Canadian bank with its head office in Toronto. For most of those years I have been with the Natural Resources (i.e., energy and mining) finance group in Toronto and Houston. At present I head up the Bank's Natural Resources financing group in the US. Although I cover the entire US I am located in Houston because it is the centre of the US oil and gas industry. To remind you what a small world it is my boss in Toronto is a Scot who worked on the Copper Belt and in South Africa prior to joining the Bank. More interesting though is that his wife is from Bulawayo and is a Bryce-Hendry (spelling?); I remember her brothers and believe her father was a governor of the school.
I noted from the Bulletin Board
that Brian Darling was listed as living in Sugarland, Texas, but
he seems to have moved as his E-mail address is not valid and he is not
listed in the directory. Too bad as I would have enjoyed talking
to him. I would enjoy hearing from any FOB's and staff where ever
they are as I am anxious to catch up.
