SENBANK
PRIZE
FOR HONOURS STUDENTS
The Senbank Prize is awarded as an incentive to honours
students in economics. The award is made annually to a bona fide honours student in
economics at a South African university. The award consists of a bronze medal.
Entries for the Prize will take the
form of an essay not exceeding 6 500 words. The subject of the essay is the choice
of the candidate. One entry is allowed per department per university. Entries
must be sent to the Honorary Secretary of the Society, c/o PO Box 1234, Halfway House,
1685. The closing date for entries is 25 March of the year that follows directly on
the year in which a particular candidate was registered as an honours student at a
university.
The Central Council appoints an adjudicator to
nominate the winner. The adjudicator is asked to use the following criteria as
guidelines:
- The essay should testify to independent research
although an original contribution to the subject is not a prerequisite.
- The essay must be systematic and well presented.
- The essay can be analytical as well as descriptive
in nature but should in any case form a logical unit.
- The essay is original and could possibly be
published in a journal.

Die Senbankprys word
uitgeloof as n aansporing vir honneursstudente in die ekonomie en word jaarliks
toegeken aan n honneursstudent wat n bona-fide student in die ekonomie aan
n Suid-Afrikaanse universiteit is. Die toekenning bestaan uit n
bronsmedalje.
Inskrywings vir die Prys sal
die vorm aanneem van n opstel wat nie meer as 6 500 woorde beslaan nie. Die
keuse van die onderwerp berus by die kandidaat wat vir die Prys inskryf.
Een inskrywing per
departement per universiteit word toegelaat. Inskrywings moet aan die Eresekretaris
van die Vereniging gestuur word, p/a Posbus 1234, Halfweghuis, 1685. Die
sluitingsdatum vir inskrywings is 25 Maart van die jaar wat direk volg op die jaar waarin
die betrokke kandidaat n geregistreerde honneursstudent aan n universiteit
was.
Die Sentrale Raad benoem
n beoordelaar om die pryswenner te nomineer. Die beoordelaar neem die volgende
kriteria as riglyne in aanmerking:
- Die opstel moet van selfstandige
ondersoek getuig, dog n selfstandige bydrae tot n vakrigting is nie n
voorvereiste nie.
- Die opstel moet sistematies goed
versorg wees.
- Die opstel kan analities sowel as
beskrywend van aard wees, maar dit moet in elk geval n logiese geheel vorm.
- Die oorspronklikheid van die opstel
en die moontlikheid om dit te publiseer.
