Reproductions of the euro banknote draft designs are authorised
without recourse to a specific procedure in the following five cases:
If the main focus of the image is placed on an element other
than the reproductions themselves (e.g. in photographs,
drawings, paintings and films), the reproductions must
constitute only one element of the action or setting and no
close-up view of the reproductions must be given.
It must not be possible for the material used to create the
reproductions (whatever their size) to be mistaken for or
confused with paper.
Reproductions on paper which are printed on one side only
must be more than (or equal to) 20 cm in length and 10 cm in
width or less than (or equal to) 8 cm in length and 4 cm in width.
Reproductions on paper which are printed on two sides must
be more than (or equal to) 24 cm in length and 12 cm in width
or less than (or equal to) 6 cm in length and 3 cm in width.
Any reproductions in electronic media (e.g. on CDs, on the
Internet, etc.) must be preceded by the full text of this
document.
The following text must accompany all reproductions and be
clearly visible:
"Draft banknote design © European Monetary Institute, 1997 / European Central Bank, 1998".
