Botswana Ecology

Information guide to the ecology of Botswana. The ecology is affected by many factors including the underlying bedrock (geology).

Most of Botswana consists of the semi-desert with wide-open topography extending over two-thirds of the country. The average elevation is about 1000m above sea level. The Kavango river seanonally feeds great volumes of water into the Kalahari sands, creating a vast delta of almost 15 000 km².
