Botswana Tours and Safaris

Botswana offers the traveller to Africa the ultimate in safari destinations - from the riverine woodlands of Chobe where the great elephant herds are unsurpassed on the African continent, through the Linyanti swamps and magnificent Okavango Delta - a unique labyrinth of waterways coursing through the thirstlands of the Kalahari Desert.

Initially the choice of tours and safaris in Botswana can be mystifying. Must one fly into safari camps, or take a mobile safari, or even drive oneself around? Botswana is not one of the least inexpensive countries in Africa, but it offers good value, since most items are included in the price of your tour or safari: as all your meals, activities and park fees, and even some drinks are included.

The exclusive privilege to spend time in pristine environments with fabulous wildlife, comfortable accommodation, good food and excellent guides, are well worth the charge. On a Botswana safari you'll see fantastic game, wonderful birdlife, and have some pristine environments virtually to yourself. Botswana is untamed, enchanted and very exclusive.

If you want to really experience the bush, then a safari or overland tour of the Northern reaches of Botswana is just the thing for you. Vast areas of African landscape support huge numbers of free-roaming game.

Here you won't have to worry about sharing your game drive with a multitude of other vehicles. Up to 600 species of birds have been recorded in Botswana.

The beautiful Okavango Delta, together with the Linyanti and Chobe river systems gives way to the Kalahari plains.

Areas such as the Makgadikgadi salt pans (once a huge inland lake) with islands of palm trees and Baobabs are fascinating and unusual, making a Botswana safari holiday a unique experience of nature.

Game is not restricted to the National Parks of Botswana, but moves freely into surrounding areas that, in many cases, are huge concessions managed by concessionaires, as game reserves.

All in all between 35% - 40% of Botswana is made up of wildlife area.

The prolific big game and magnificent scenery combine to make Botswana one of the top safari and tour destinations in Africa, whether self-drive, on foot or in the lap of African luxury.

Many excellent camps have been established in the concessions as well as in the parks. These vary in size from six to twenty-four beds and are usually very comfortable and intimate.

Accommodation ranges from upmarket lodges to rustic self-catering, tented camps:
