Facts about the Damara Dik-Dik -- Madoqua kirkii::

SIZE: Shoulder height 40 cm, mass 5 kg. Only the males have horns, which are usually about 8 cm long.
COLOUR: From pale grey-brown to darker shades of brown. Underparts and inside of thighs whitish-yellow. White rings are found around the eyes.
MOST LIKE: The Steenbok but much smaller, and grey-brown above, rather than rufous brown. The dik-dik also has a distinctive crest of long hair on the forehead, which is lacking in the steenbok.
HABITAT: Dry bush or wooded country with thick undergrowth; terrain often stony. On hillsides and nearby rocky outcrops.
