Coral Reef SCUBA diving and snorkelling are primarily "weekend" sports in South Africa and the country has many clubs, dive schools and safari tour companies that offer professional diving excursions to almost all the Southern African wrecks, reefs, Great White Shark cage diving and whale watching sites.

South Africa's enormously long coastline ranges from about 35°S to 27°S, which isn't really within the usual range of tropical Coral Reef diving. However, the Mozambique Current, which flows down the South African East Coast, brings warm, tropical water with it, warming the coast.

At Sodwana Bay you'll find the most southerly hard coral reefs in the world with soft corals being found further down South Africa's East Coast.
