Orpen Restcamp - Kruger National Park:
Location: This
is a peaceful little camp at the Orpen
Gate.
Description: A
large variety of game may be sighted at the waterhole
just outside the camp. The Rabelais Dam is 7 km from
the restcamp.

Two
air-conditioned bedrooms, each with three single
beds and bathroom en suite. One bathroom with
bath, toilet and basin and the other with shower,
toilet and basin.

kitchen has a two-plate electric stove (without
oven), refrigerator/freezer, sink, cooking
utensils, crockery and cutlery. The kitchen
is on an open veranda.

Apply
thirteen months in advance (two of the cottages)
or four months (one cottage).

Two-bed
and three-bed huts have communal ablution facilities,
a wash basin and a veranda, but no air-conditioning,
fan or refrigerator. Cooking utensils, crockery
and cutlery are not provided.

Information:

Climate
Orpen is in a summer rainfall area.Such precipitation is usually
convectional and can result in heavy downpours. The summer months
(October to April) are hot and sometimes balmy. Winters are warm
and mild, although visitors going on night-drives will require warm
clothing.

Day Visitors
Orpen has a designated day visitor area where day visitors and visitors
from other camps can barbecue (braai) and picnic. There are also
picnic sites at Muzandzeni and Nhlanguleni southwest of the camp,
and at Timbavati northeast of the camp, along the river of the same
name.
