| Built
in 1998, the Knysna Log-Inn Hotel embodies an "indigenous" concept that
combines the character and the spirit of the surrounding indigenous forests
with Knysna's romantic history. On entering the lobby of one of the largest
log structures in the Southern Hemisphere, exquisitely carved solid Yellow
wood trunks tower upwards to the magnificent Scandinavian hammer trusses.
Rays of sunshine flooding through the spectacular stained glass windows,
illuminate the splendid solid Yellowwood staircase. The autumn hues of
the slate flooring and the extensive use of natural river stone combine
with the wood to create an atmosphere of tranquil balance. Truly "in tune
with nature"
The
Knysna Log-Inn Hotel is very centrally located in the middle of town and
ideally situated for sight seeing. The Hotel is within easy walking distance
to the Knysna Quays (better knows as the Knysna Waterfront) - just 200m
away, as are the ferries to the Heads.

Tribes
Restaurant
“Tribes”,
at Knysna Log-Inn, is fast becoming known as an exciting adventure in African
cuisine. Its mix of Old Colonial, European, Malay and Tribal African recipes
offer a gastronomic experience seldom still found.
The
relaxed, rustic atmosphere of the restaurant fits in perfectly with the
elegant timber-log structure that has made Knysna Log-Inn such a local
landmark. The style also perfectly matches the varied, but interesting
array of dishes that mirrors our rainbow nation. Specialties include, Ostrich,
Venison and Oyster dishes, many of which are served in a small, traditional
3 legged black cast-iron pot.
|
| Tribes
caters for intimate couples as well as larger touring parties. Whatever
the size of the party, our personalized, friendly service is a trademark
of the “Tribes” experience. For larger groups, buffet and set menus can
be requested and arranged in advance.
An
extensive, but carefully selected wine-list, showcasing many of the Cape’s
best grape varieties, is available. Once your choice has been made from
the menu, feel free to ask your waitron for their suggested food and wine
pairing.
Before
and after dining, relax in the comfort of our cozy bar adjoining the restaurant.
A fine selection of local Brandies, single malt Whiskies, and cocktails
is available from your host, Danny, who will be sure to enrich your visit
to our very special part of the world. |
