Michelle McLean went to Centaurus High School in Windhoek , Namibia . She completed Std 9 and 10 in one year in Cape Town in 1989.
She began her modelling career in Cape Town at the age of 13.She has since modelled in the USA, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
She won the Miss Namibia title in 1991 and the Miss Universe title in 1992 in Bankok , Thailand . As Miss Universe she travelled to over 30 countries in the world, meeting Heads of State, celebrities and raising funds for the under-privileged as a UNICEF ambassador.
From 1992,Michelle was based in Los Angeles where she studied acting in 1993 and 1994.She co-ordinated the Miss Universe pageant in 1995.She MC'd the Miss Namibia pageant in 1993 and 2001 as well as co-ordinated and MC'd that pageant in 1996.
At the end of 1995 Michelle became a presenter for Front Row, a magazine programme on MNET-a Pay Television Channel in South Africa .
In 1996 she was appointed as a continuity presenter on MNET.
In 1997 and 1998 she presented Ford Today, a programme showcasing Ford motor vehicles.
Michelle presented an MTV-style music show on MNET called 110 FM in 1999 and 2000.
She co-presented The Cosmo Show on MNET in 2000 and 2001 with fellow continuity presenter Marius Roberts. This was a television show formulated from the Cosmopolitan magazine.
Michelle is a recognised Master of Ceremonies. Among other launches and corporate functions, she has been an MC for the Loeries (an awards event for the advertising industry) 3 years running, Becks Beer launch in South Africa, Nissan, GQ magazine launch in South Africa, Face of Africa competition, Pantene hair product launch and SA Sports Illustrated Model search competition.
Michelle presented "ebucks" an e-commerce programme on MNET. She also presented Life Style Homes of South Africa , showcasing some of South Africa 's most beautiful homes and was seen regularly seen as one of the continuity presenters on MNET.
The Michelle Mclean Children's Trust has been extremely successful. Founded almost 10 years ago in Namibia , it initiates and runs hundreds of projects every year in education and up-liftment for the underprivileged. In 2000 the Michelle McLean Primary School was opened with the capacity for 800 learners in Windhoek , Namibia .
