We are so quick to criticize and label Thomas as “Doubting Thomas”for his words found in:
The other disciples therefore said unto him:,
We have seen the Lord.
But he said unto them: Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
But Thomas wanted to make certain that JESUS had indeed risen from the dead before he believed ! His faith was not based on hearsay - he made sure that his faith was based on the TRUTH of the resurrection !
Thomas became certain by doubting. His faith became great, intense, and convincing. He paid the ultimate price for his faith, it is said that he was commisioned to build a palace for the King of India, and that he was later killed with a spear (lance) as a martyr for his
LORD and SAVIOUR !
Read the following extract from the precious Word of GOD in Acts 17:10-11:
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Those in Berea were more noble then those at Thessalonica - Why ? They did not just accept that which they were told - they made certain of the Truth by searching the Scriptures !
Listen to the Words of Jesus to HIS disciples:
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying,
Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said,
Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Notice the Words:
BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM ?
Friend, what is important is not what this ministry says, or even what your Church teaches, or even what your parents or family may or may not believe. These are not the questions that will be asked of you in that day.
In that Day:
The Church that you belong to will be unimportant !
The Doctrines that you hold, will be unimportant !
You station in life will be unimportant !
The only question that you will be asked by the LORD is: But whom say ye that I am?
Have you made sure of your Faith ?
Have you made sure of the ONE in whom you have placed your trust for Eternal Life ?
Do you believe and trust in HIM
enough to follow HIM ?
Are you following HIM and keeping HIS commandments ?
Your answers to these questions are important because the Scripture says in:
Jesus saith unto him: I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
I plead therefore with you:
Make sure of your faith by searching the Scriptures and by asking the LORD to guide you and to lead you as you follow HIM.
