TAPE AIDS FOR THE BLIND
Five minutes in the company of Pauline Hoffman from Tape Aids for the Blind in Durban and you can see why it's such a successful and helpful organisation. Bubbling over with enthusiasm and willing to try new ideas. Pauline described some of the lesser known services offered by Tape Aids for the Blind.
  • Did you know that Tape Aids provides an audio edition of the weekly M-Net / DSTV Guide which is sponsored by MultiChoice.
  • If you have a document, prescribed books or important matters to be read, Tape Aids will read it onto tape for you.
  • For those who are doing research for a thesis or project, Tape Aids will surf the Internet and read onto tape what is available.
  • That every issue of Diabetes Focus, including the advertisements, are read onto tape and are part of the regular lending library.
  • Tape Aids has a whole library of magazines, story books etc. on tape. Tapes are delivered in small plactic holders on your doorstep by your nearest Post Office. You just have to take them to any Post Office when you are finished listening to them. Story books may be kept for 2 months only. This is a free service delivered to blind and print-handicapped people.

But here is the best news of all ! If you have ever borrowed one of the taped Diabetes Focus Issues, you'll know how difficult it is to send them back. Somehow you need to keep all the information, recipes and ideas. So Tape Aids has offered a BRAND NEW service - a year's subscription of taped issues of Diabetes Focus for only R50-00.

This means you get to keep this invaluable guide to healthy, confident living, whether you're diabetic, watch your weight or keeping blood pressure and cholesterol levels down.
