Transnet Museum not only preserves steam locomotives but also diesel and electric locomotives. The collection includes 5 Class 31 diesels, 1 Class 32 diesel, 2 Class 32-200 diesels, 1 Class 3E electric, 1 Class 4E electric, 1 Class 5E electric and 2 Class5E1 electric locomotives.

Two of the Class 31 diesels have been painted in their original colour scheme and reclassified 1 DE. Forty-five Class 1 DE locomotives were ordered and first used on passenger trains between Germiston and Volksrust.
