Coding and Programming in 'C' (Issue 2.0)
CITY & GUILDS
Order Form
7261/224  Coding and Programming in 'C' 2 (Pilot Issue)

Introduction to the module

A candidate who satisfactorily completes this module will have the competence to create, code, compile and execute simple 'C' programs to solve a given problem.

Note: This is the lowest level module in 'C' programming.  The 'concept forming' level I module is not provided because the language does not lend itself to very simple programming activities.  The most pertinent reasons for this are

a. the construction and style of the 'C' language
b. the difficulties of enabling very simple but meaningful input/output
c. the extent of library usage required for any useful programming.

For these reasons it is suggested that the 'C' language is more suited to those intending to undertake professional programming activities).

Candidate eligibility

The selection of candidates is at the discretion of centres.  Candidates will require a basic competence in using computers but no previous programming experience is necessary.

Resource requirements

'C' compiler and appropriate user access to terminals or microcomputers.

This module will adhere to the ANSI standard for the 'C' language.  It is not necessary for centres to provide an ANSI standard environment but candidates must be aware of the ANSI standards for the language.
