Biochemical tissue salts (or cell salts) are natural preparations which have a wide range of uses. They are essentially minerals prepared in a minute, energetic, biochemical form.

Dr Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler of Oldenberg in Germany, a leading biochemist, physicist and homeopath of his time, believed that for any medicinal treatment to be effective, it should be directed towards the cell itself. Schuessler maintained that disease manifests when a deficiency of certain minerals in the body reaches critical levels, and so he developed the 12 tissue-salt remedies to balance the deficiencies. Furthermore, there is a link between the resonance/frequency of the 12 tissue salts and our chakras, meridians and our mental states of being and emotions. In more recent times through the work of Dr. Candice Pert, we have discovered and scientifically proven, the link between emotions and our cellular response (Read her fascinating book Molecules of Emotion).

The structure and the vitality of the body's organs depend to a large extent upon balanced quantities of its organic constituents or minerals. These are the same minerals that remain after combustion, in other words, when a body is cremated what remains as ash are the 12 essential mineral salts. Minerals form the material basis of all the organs and tissues of the body, every constituent of the body, from the nerve cells, to the cells of connective and elastic tissue, to bone, muscle and brain cells, cartilage, hair and nails, the blood – you name it. They are absolutely essential in supporting function and structure.

 
     
 

Dr. Schuessler believed that
1. disease does not occur if cell metabolism is normal
2. cell metabolism is in turn normal if cell nutrition is adequate
3. nutritional substances are either of organic or inorganic nature as far as the body is concerned
4. the ability of the body cells to assimilate and to excrete and further to utilise nutritional material, is impaired if there is a deficiency in the organic material
5. adequate cell nutrition may be restored and cellular metabolism normalised by supply the required tissue salts to the organism in a finely diluted, assimilable form.

 
     
 

Every disease known to man will benefit by the use of one or more of these inorganic salts. As with all supplementation programmes, the potential exists to substantially slow down the aging process through the management of inflammation and free radicals. The body is designed to heal and repair itself when supported with proper nutrition. The body requires sufficient energy and raw material to maintain the cell's proper functions. The body is a living organism and needs high quality vitamins, minerals and trace elements to maintain, repair and regenerate itself. Cells do die but replace themselves at various intervals. To understand anti-aging, understand that when a cell replaces itself it has three options:

1. A cell may replace itself with a weaker cell each time. A cell will do this if it hasn't had the right nutritional foods made available to it. This process is called degeneration.

2. A cell can replace itself with the same strength cell. This process is called maintenance.

3. The cell may be capable of replacing itself with a stronger and even better cell. This will happen only if the cell has an abundance of energy  and the right raw materials. This process is called regeneration. This is anti-aging.

 
     
 

Cell salts are the primary food source of the cells and should be seen as food supplements. If disease presents itself we can increase our supplementation thereby arming our bodies with its natural essence to restore balance to the system. Even if we can't put a name to the 'illness' we can note the symptoms and administer the tissue salts to correct the cellular imbalances causing the symptoms. Prevention, as we know, is better than ‘cure’ – yet we tend to ignore the little messages our bodies send us. The first signs of tissue salt deficiencies are seen in the face so think of tissue salts as a 'face-lift' in a bottle! Furthermore, we are not receiving sufficient minerals from the food we eat because of incorrect farming methods.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Compared to 50 years ago, today's fruits and vegetables carry smaller amounts of some key nutrients, including protein, calcium and vitamin C, according to new study findings.

"This is one more reason to eat more fruits and vegetables," lead author Dr. Donald R. Davis told Reuters Health. "We have many reasons, but this is one of them."

Although there is probably more than one explanation, the trend may be largely due to farmers choosing to breed higher-yielding crops, Davis said. Plants have a fixed amount of energy they can spend, he said, and varieties with high yields may have less energy to take minerals from the soil and transport them around the plant or to synthesize vitamins and amino acids, which make up proteins.

"Yield is not everything, and there are trade-offs involved," said the researcher, who is based at the University of Texas in Austin. "This is something we need to become aware of as a society."

Previous research from the U.S. and United Kingdom has suggested the nutrient content of fruits and vegetables has declined in recent years. To investigate further, Davis and his team compared the amounts of 13 key nutrients in 39 vegetables, 3 melons and strawberries in 1950 and 1999.The investigators found that, overall, vegetables and fruits contain less protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin and vitamin C today than in 1950. The amount of seven other nutrients was unchanged.
The amount of decline varied for different nutrients, the authors report in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. For instance, protein fell by 6 percent, while riboflavin appeared to drop by 38 percent. Davis said his group focused on declines in nutrients across vegetables and fruits overall, rather than on individual types of produce. However, they found that celery, green peppers and tomatoes appeared to have lost the largest amount of protein, while phosphorus dropped most markedly in cantaloupe, head lettuce and tomatoes. Eggplant and tomatoes appeared to have lost the most vitamin C, he added.

 
     
 

Obviously what we eat has a huge impact on our health overall - many foods are very acidic to our bodies and are health-limiting. They include Additives, Alcohol, Artificial Colorings & flavourings, Artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame/nutrasweet - that stuff is lethal), Caffeine - Including Tea, Coffee, chocolate, cola, Canola oil, Chemicals such as flouride, Chips, Cigarettes, Cotton seed oil, Deep fried foods, High levels of carbohydrate, High levels of meat, Hydrogenated oils, Margarine, Meat and eggs raised by `normal' methods which have many toxins and hormones, Meat from animals on unnatural diets (eg pork), Microwaved food, Milk (especially homogenized milk), Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), Oil that is not cold pressed (use olive oil, butter or ghee), Olestra, Pesticides (used in farming), Preserved meats, Processed foods, Puffed grains, Seafood which are garbage eaters (eg oysters), Soy products other than soy sauce, miso and tofu (eg soy milk & soy oil), Sugar, Softdrinks or fizzy drinks, teas & coffees, Vegetable oil and White flour. Foods that are health-enabling are Aloe vera juice, Antioxidants (eg vitamin C, vitamin E, pycnogenols, coenzyme Q10), Barley greens, Bee Pollen (not for everyone-some are allergic to pollen from some areas so be careful), Celtic sea salt, Evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil and fish oils, Fruit and vegetables especially Sprouts, Gentle sunlight (vitamin D) and balanced exercise, Green leafy vegetables, Kambucha, Legumes (such as lentils), MSM (organic sulphur), Olive oil, RAW nuts, seeds, soaked and sprouted grains, Seaweed, Seeds, Spirulina, Super Food, Filtered water (use a reverse osmosis type), Wheatgrass juice. The other thing to bear in mind is that the body has hundreds of different chemical reactions going on, for which it needs at least ninety different things, including vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids.   How are tissue salts made?  
  The original natural salt is triturated one part of salt to nine parts of sugar of milk for at least an hour. This gives the first decimal trituration of 1 X. However, the particles are still too large to be absorbed by the body at this stage and so the mix is diluted to, in most cases, 6 X. It is from the 6th trituration that the tablets are formed. The Allisone range is a D6 trituration. Allisone are the only suppliers of LACTOSE-FREE TISSUE SALTS in South Africa as at the time of writing.

In the main, between 1 to 3 tablets three times per day, dissolved under the tongue in order to reach the bloodstream more rapidly and should not be swallowed whole. In severe cases, as in the case of ‘flu’, this can be upped to hourly dosages. Generally speaking, a dose of any remedy should be rather too small than too large; too large a dose will probably be passed out in the urine. Kinesiologists are able to muscle test the optimal dosage for each client.

Note: many people are unknowingly suffering from the cumulative effects of past suppressive treatments – antibiotics and medicinal drug ‘overdosing’ for example – and in these cases response to biochemic treatment will be slow to start off with. When this happens a complete detox will need to be considered, with our anti-toxicity course consisting of Nat. Mur and Kali. Sulph. in alternation with Nat. Sulph 3 x per day.

Please bear in mind that Tissue Salts are not intended to replace your Doctor, but used as a means of providing immediate First Aid, or as preventative health, they are enormously beneficial. They boost the immune system to the extent that your body is able to better cope with many of the onslaughts it is faced with daily, and your use of stronger medicines like antibiotics will be reduced to an absolute minimum. I personally cannot recall the last time I visited a doctor due to illness. Why - because I am a regular visitor to my mineral cabinet!

Tissue Salts are safe to use at all times and apart from very rare cases of lactose intolerance, have zero side effects (excepting Silicea which needs to be used extremely judiciously if there are any foreign-bodies in the body e.g. pacemakers, replaced hips etc. Silicea is excellent for removing any foreign material from the body). Other than this they can, in almost all cases, be used in conjunction with any forms of prescribed medicine. Pets and plants respond remarkably well to tissue salts; recently my dog Tau developed a chest complaint but after 12 hours of regular dosing with tissue salts, recovered 100%. I also keep him on regular doses of Nat. Phos. (for parasites and worms) and Silicea (for his coat). Saves me expensive trips to the vet!!
