Przewalski's horse, photographed at the National Zoological Gardens, Pretoria 1999, by Joanna Holliday. The Sumerian models are pulled by onagers (wild asses), which are not the same as Przewalski's horse. Przewalski's horse inhabits the steppe and is related to the onager, which is lighter in color and still roams the plains of northern India.
