Ethical Guidelines

Where legislation is insufficient or non-existent, there may exist other documentation governing the treatment of animals. However, these are not legally binding and therefore not enforceable.

Action to improve legislation

Many animal organisations in this country have recognised the need to improve laws as a primary way to improve the situation for animals. However, it must be borne in mind that without proper implementation of these laws, any act, regardless of how protective it is, is rendered useless. So any action to improve legislation must include follow-up action to ensure that the acts are being put to their intended use.
