Having looked at the future growth potential for
Franschhoek and being concerned about the seasonality of its agricultural and tourist
industries there is a need to diversify away from these industries and create micro
enterprise training for small businesses in the manufacturing and service industries to
create additional employment. To retain the rural character of Franschhoek, it is
envisaged that the emphasis will be on cottage industry which does not rely on tourism.
We are offering training in joinery, welding, carpentry as well as horticulture.
The following are envisaged:
a driving school franchise for cars and tractors
a sewing workshop including tailoring and knitting
warehousing for waste disposal, cans, paper and cartons
home industry including jams, preserves etc
The following outlets will be developed over the next 2 years:
- Job Center - gardeners, casual workers, handymen
- Driving School Franchise
- Chocolates, cookies and bread, coffe shop
- Sewing workshop including tailoring and knitting - labour intensive.
The cheapest form of job creation, under R900 pre job.
- Oxfam Shop - Dilbeek Schools will contribute second hand school
clothing, shoes etc. The shop will also sell remnats.
- Joinery - this will be training, workshop and retail.
- Warehouse for waste disposal, cans, papers, cartons and acorns.
