FDF Objectives

The FDF is a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The Objectives of the FDF are to promote, facilitate and encourage:

1    low cost housing especially for the disadvantaged section of the

      population;

2    the provision of schools, creches and facilities for the care of the aged

      especially amongst disadvantaged sectors of the population;

3    a skills training centre aimed primarily at servicing the tourist industry;

4    the creation of sustainable job opportunities focusing on local labour

      and wherever possible promoting employment of local labour;

5    the establishment of small businesses aimed at the tourist and other

      appropriate industries;

6    the full and active participation of the disadvantaged members of the

      community in Franschhoek in endeavours to achieve its goals;

7    the participation by, and co-operation of, all sections of the community

      in the efforts necessary to achieve these goals;

8    any socio-economic development in Franschhoek not specifically

      mentioned.

It has facilitated, in accordance with its objectives, the obtaining of donations through the NGO Livos (Liberalen voor Ontwikkelingssamenwerking) of
R8 million from the Belgian Government.
