A sundial at the Cabrière vineyards expresses the von Arnim philosophy that wine is the mystical synergy between sun, soil, vine and man.

In the art of wine-growing Achim has found much to absorb his energy and excite his vision. "Do you realise" he questions, "that when planting, you only know in seven years' time what the product will be?" He adds reflectively: "I love to be surprised by the reality of life."
