Established in 1969 and based in Johannesburg, Science Fiction South Africa (SFSA) is a club for fans of both science fiction and fantasy. Membership benefits include:
International and country members are more than welcome :) |

The club has its own library of over 1 600 titles, ranging from the very well-known such as Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke to the lesser known - and anything in between. Back issues of our club fanzine Probe, as well as various international fanzines, are also available. It has been said that people join SFSA because of the library and stay because of the great people and vibe. Come put this to the test! PS: Please check your shelves for overdue library books – there are other members who may be waiting to borrow them. LOCATIONThe library is currently hosted at Ron Cowley's place, at 34 Royal street, Ferndale (thanks, Ron), which is also where a lot of our regular get-togethers are held (thanks again, Ron!). LENDING RULESThe library is freely available to members, and a selection is usually on display at most meetings. Members may borrow five books at a time (unless you're Simone, who borrowed 26 in her first visit). Our librarian can be approached if you wish to borrow books at times other than meetings. MAILING SERVICEA mailing service is available to country members who cannot attend meetings. Contact the librarian for more details. REVIEW COPIES & DONATIONSPublishing houses are welcome to send us copies of new titles for us to review in our fanzine Probe. We gleefully accept all quality donations (books based on computer games and the like will be tossed aside with great vigour), despite our lack of shelf space Simone always needs new reading material. PERSONAL COLLECTIONSVarious members of SFSA have extensive personal collections, which they may lend out with discretion to trustworthy persons. |
