The Portable Door
Tom Holt
Paperback, 600 pages
Reviewed by Liz Simmonds, 15 June 2005

This is a wowser. Tom Holt has already written the sequel to this delightful book, published in 2002.

Are you a fan of trans-dimensionalism and / or Gilbert and Sullivan? Do you like the wry characters of Anne Tyler? Do you hate charming heroes and glamorous heroines? Do you insist on a well-plotted and neatly tied-up book that is complete in itself and a headline event when a sequel is announced?

Then why are you reading this and not rushing out to read this literally and figuratively magical novel? A delight from cover to cover, as they say. They are right.

One to treasure, to be thrilled there is a sequel to, and to hope for more.

*** for this one.
