Scrutator
Volume Three of The Well of Echoes
Ian Irving
Penguin
Paperback, 700 pages, R100

Humanity is on the run. Somewhere on a planet far, far away the Node has been destroyed, and all the human armament has been rendered useless. The alien Lyrinx; huge, fast deadly; are sweeping across the planet, killing all humans in their path. It would appear that Scrutator Xervish Flydd, sorry ex-Scrutator, is humanity's only hope. (Why? I have no idea, but that's what the blurb says. Obviously happens in Book Four.)

At about 700 pages the book is long but I gave up at page 250 - the amount of detail almost renders the actual story irrelevant. It takes three chapters just to cross the street!!

TOO MUCH WAFFLE!!
