Saphay, 15th daughter of King Thryle of the Rukar is to be wed into the
tribe of Jafn Klow, once enemies now supposedly friends - but she has been
betrayed by her father. Cast into the icy sea and surrounded by an ice
pyramid, she awakes with the memory of having been impregnated by the god
"Sunwolf"
She is rescued from the sea by the Jafn Klow tribesman, Athluan, who was
to be her husband, and who in fact then takes her as his wife. But they
are a strange tribe and she does not fit in at all. For one thing they pride
themselves on sleeping as little as possible and consider she is wasting her
life sleeping. When Athluan is killed she and her new born son are cast out
onto the frozen wastes to die.
Protected by Guri, a ghost, they are taken in by the Nabnish, but once
again never become part of society. Her god sired son grows up far to fast to
be a normal human being and so their problems start . . ..
A rather different fantasy on a well used theme.
