Jimmy the Hand

Jimmy the Hand - a small time thief with big ideas on the streets of
Krondor. Things go down the drain for Jimmy when he helps rescue prince Arutha
and princess Anita from troops loyal to Guy du Bas Tyra, and ends up exiled
for disobeying the orders of the 'upright man'.
This is the third 'Legends of the Riftwar' book I have read, and although
this is not the best one, it is certainly a good read. Jimmy is a very
interesting character - a thief coaxed into doing 'the right thing'.
This book mixes tragedy, drama and comedy very well. A large part of the
story (not directly related to Jimmy) is very tragic, and serves to
provide the depth in the story. There is plenty of drama in Jimmy's dealings
with people, both adults and children his age.
Steve Stirling's influence comes through in the way that this book is very
different from the other "Riftwar" books - the main difference is
the change in perspective, from adult to child.
All in all, an exciting action/drama book that showcases the writing skills
of both Raymond E Feist and Steve Stirling.
