DECEMBER 2007 MEETING PHOTO GALLERY
December meetings are always bring and braai social gatherings. The December 2007 meeting was typical of the type. The meeting was held at the house of Ron Cowley. Unusually for this time of year, it did not rain in the afternoon, and we could and did use the swimming pool. Here is some photos of the event.
Around the braai. In the early afternoon, under the lapa. The fire has not yet been lit, but we are gathering round already. Clockwise, from centre: Trevor Derry, Liz Simmonds, Ilse von Willich, AL du Pisani, Carla Martins, Gail Jamieson, Ian Jamieson, Simone Puterman and Franz Tomasek. Two weeks after this photo was taken Franz decided to change his image, and shaved of his beard and started wearing contact lenses. The change was so radical that people at work did not recognise him. Photographer: Ron Cowley |
Digging up memories. From left to right: Vic, Simone Puterman, Carla Martins and Gail Jamieson. SFSA is apparently the third SF club to operate in and around Johannesburg. There was the rumoured Reef SF club, operating before or during World War Two. Then there was the Witwatersrand SF Society, active during the 1950s. Vic was a member of that, and brought along some of their publications. (With the blue covers, in the hands of Carla and Gail) Photographer: Ron Cowley |
Yes, we can swim. Making use of the swimming pool. Swimming, from left to right: Al du Pisani, Ilse von Willich and Gail Jamieson. Behind the pool Ian Jamieson is taking a photo to prove that sometimes it does not rain in December. At right, Franz Tomasek stands and observes. Photographer: Ron Cowley |
Chatting inside. In the living area, SFSA members are hard a-talk. From left to right: Ian Jamieson, Eileen Jamieson, Simone Puterman, Franz Tomasek, Carla Martins and (partly obsured) Trevor Derry. Photographer: Ron Cowley |
