Dear Friends
As the year progresses, are we seeing life
as it is; or are we viewing it through our human eyes only, based solely on
human perceptions? We know that the way we view or perceive life will be the
way we experience it. And we are told: “Choose you this day whom you shall
serve – God or mammon.”
I was reading an article in a well-known
monthly publication the other day, where the emphasis seemed to be on living
longer. In fact the aim was that humans could and should live to the age of
150 years! One researcher maintained that due to the supplements he was
taking, he would never die. And he is right! – he will never die. But …
maybe from his human perception his concern is about prolonging human life.
Trying to live longer as humans is really all about not dying. Well, how can
we live without dying? because dying is just as much a part of our human
life as being birthed.
Because we originate from a Source that is
infinite, then that part of us – that originating idea, deep at the core of
our being – must be infinite too. So … as spiritual beings, we can never
die, can we?
Science and medical research is always
evolving and it often is quite amazing to see what has been, and is being,
achieved when it comes to repairing damaged parts of the human body; and we
certainly value medical treatment for certain ailments. Yet, while we are
paying so much attention to our physical form, are we not forgetting about
the wonderful truth of our being? So much of the time we are distracted from
this truth, and it is this very forgetting that causes the fears and
anxieties that prevail in day to day living.
Some years ago I spent a week visiting my
younger daughter who was then living in Cape Town. It rained nearly all
week, so in between showers, to stretch our legs, we would walk to a little
shop around the corner from her flat. There was no name over the door, and
the shop was very sparsely stocked and even the shopkeeper seemed lethargic
about life. Well, we jokingly called it “The Shop With No Pezazz”. Although
this may have seemed a bit judgmental, it got us thinking about our own
lives. We have so much, we are so much, that maybe we need to put the pezazz
back into life!
Pezazz, though slang, is defined in the dictionary as: flamboyant, with zest
and flair.
What about putting the Spiritual Pezazz back into Life, by recognizing the
gift of God. God is that dynamic presence within each of us that is the
force of Life, Love, Understanding, Wisdom and Knowledge that is sustaining
and maintaining each of us, all the time.
As mentioned earlier, we originate from a
Source that is infinite and therefore we have been given the gift of eternal
life. And although it is interesting to take note of what the scientists are
up to regarding the prolonging of human life, we need to retreat from all
that, and focus on truth, and who we really are. So how are we viewing and
living our lives? We could begin by placing our faith in the invisible
spiritual world instead of the material world with all its visible effects.
We have the opportunity, through awareness, to focus on, and claim our true
heritage, our birthright – the kingdom of God, that is ours in
consciousness.
Even if the idea of living to 150 human
years appeals to you, do not be distracted by it. It is God beating our
hearts and breathing His breath into us each moment of each day and night.
Truth is eternal and unchanging; we are eternal spiritual beings, and as
such, we do not die. Let us become effective expressions of the Divine and
live a life of Spiritual Pezazz!
